International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes

The International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) is an international institution established upon the World Bank’s initiative in 1966 under the Convention on the Settlement of Investment Disputes between States and Nationals of Other States (the “ICSID Convention”). ICSID provides a permanent forum for the settlement of investment disputes, incorporating rules for conciliation as well as arbitration. ICSID Arbitration has become the predominant choice of forum in today’s Bilateral Investment Treaty.
