The Legal Framework for Arbitration in Austria

General Information

  • UNCITRAL Model-Law based: Yes.
  • Legal Provisions: Sections 577-618 of the Austrian Code of Civil Procedure (ZPO) which replaced the old arbitration law in 2013 (SchiedsRÄG 2013). Their latest revision in 2013 instituted the Austrian Supreme Court as the first and final instance in almost all arbitration-related matters.
